Ms. Jeffries was selected to participate in The Chair Academy for Academic Leadership.
/College News News Articles/ - New Haven, CT, May 30, 2008, Theresa J. Jeffries, Professor at Gateway Community College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of higher education.
Ms. Jeffries has 12 years of experience in education and 10 years of experience as a professor at Gateway Community College. She has developed an expertise in teaching gerontology, sociology, philosophy and educational leadership. On a daily basis, Ms. Jeffries is responsible for maintaining academic standards, curriculum development, working with faculty as vice-chair of the faculty council, and working with students to support their academic success. She was selected to participate in The Chair Academy for Academic Leadership in 2001 and the United States Institute of Peace in 2008. She became involved in her profession because she wanted to make a difference in others' lives and attributes her success to the ethical foundation she received from her father.
A graduate of Columbia University, Ms. Jeffries received her Master's Degree in Social Work in 1996 and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education at the University of Minnesota. Additionally, she is a recipient of numerous awards including the Who's Who Among American Teachers Award for 2002, the Faculty of the Year Award for 2002, the Louis Lowy Award for Research on Elder Abuse in 1994, and the Alfred P. Stiernotte Philosophy Award from Quinnipiac University in 1994.
