Lorene Strickland Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who For Excellence in Higher Education
Ms. Strickland is a recently retired English professor with an obvious passion for her work. She taught general and specialized courses in American, British and World literature. she has also directed 12 international tours for students to Great Britain, Greece and Italy.


/College News News Articles/ - Dallas, TX, April 11 2008, Lorene Strickland, retired English Professor at Brookhaven Community College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of higher education.

With an impressive 50-year career as a teacher, Ms. Strickland is a recently retired English professor with an obvious passion for her work. While teaching at Brookhaven Community College, she taught general and specialized courses in American, British and World literature. But Ms. Strickland does not only excel in the classroom: she has directed 12 international tours for students to Great Britain, Greece and Italy. Ms. Strickland also served as the advisor for the study abroad program and was the English program coordinator at Brookhaven Community. For ten years, she was supervisor for student teachers at the University of Texas, Dallas.

The first of her family to attend college, Ms. Strickland has done coursework towards a Doctorate in English at the University of North Texas, Denton and received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in English and History from Stephen F. Austin University. She graduated as the salutatorian of her class in 1955. She earned the Matthews Fellowship at the University of North Texas and was division chair at Mountain View College, Texas.

Brookhaven Community College is a two-year community college that provides a full range of freshman and sophomore level courses and offers the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees.
