Joseph Rencis Named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Mechanical Engineering
Joseph J. Rencis, a tenured Professor and Department Head of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arkansas has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Mechanical Engineering.

Rencis, a tenured Professor and Department Head of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arkansas has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Mechanical Engineering. While inclusion in Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only one member in each discipline is named the Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee hand picks these special Who's Who honorees based on their accomplishments, academic achievement, leadership and service.

Professor Rencis is internationally known for his research and teaching contributions in the areas of boundary elements and finite elements applied to solid mechanics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer problems. Before joining the [url= http://www.meeg.uark.edu/826.php/] University of Arkansas [/url], Rencis was a tenured Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts from 1985 to 2004.

His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation. He has published 30 journal articles and 72 conference publications. He serves on the editorial board of Engineering Analysis with Boundary Elements and is associate editor of the International Series on Advances in Boundary Elements. He is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) and is a fellow of the Wessex Institute of Great Britain.

Rencis received a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in 1985, a Master of Science Degree from Northwestern University in 1982, a Bachelor of Science Degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1980 and an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1978. Rencis is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and is a fellow of the Wessex Institute of Technology in Great Britain. He received the 2002 American Society of Engineering Education, New England Section, Teacher of the Year Award, the 2004 American Society of Engineering Education, New England Section, Outstanding Leader Award and the 2006 American Society of Engineering Education Mechanics Division James, L. Meriam Service Award.
